Short-Term Running Goals:

Summer:

build to up 70+ miles per week, occasional core and races, follow Jake's school's summer training plan until about August when I'll focus more on the half marathon; new goal: under 17 for 5k. 16:30 for 5k by the end of the summer

 Fall:

By next October I'm shooting to be under 1:20 for an Albany, NY half marathon.

Otherwise, just keeping up the miles so that I'm healthy, and possibly competitive, for a long time to come.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Eventually I would like to run a marathon, hopefully going under 3 hours, maybe significantly so. I'll think about that one when it's more in sight. I hope to continue improving my 5k time in the meantime.

Personal:

I'm an undergraduate at Brown University and part of the running club there. I'm told I should read Once a Runner, especially now that it's in print again... We'll see if that happens. Ok, so I read it, haha. It's awesome.

beast. 9 miles with 4 mile tempo in the middle. i wasn't feeling great, but not terrible either. goal was like 5:52-5:53 pace, so 23:30. we ran 23:32, which i am super happy with after the past two days, yeesh. the run was weird, we ended up going 5:56, (jake and i then ran into derek, who ran the next two miles with us) 5:57, 5:49!, 5:50! bringing in the goal time. again, not super even splits, but the first half was even and the second half was even after we picked it up (much thanks to derek; i definitely was cursing him for leading us out when he was so fresh). i must also say that the weather was pretty perfect by the time we started. the sun was basically covered, and the temperature was prolly mid-70s. next two days will be easy easy easy. thursday is fartlek, 7x3min on/off

followed up after dinner with pillar core workout

Beast indeed. That is sub 1:18 material no doubt. If I had to put an exact number I would say 1:17:24. Not quite vdot 61 but close. You just might smoke us come race day. Med school is interfering with my training at this point. In the afternoons my legs are just dead from standing for 10-12 hours. Maybe I will try a morning workout but i doubt it will work.

awesome lol. what's vdot 61? a daniel's thing? maybe, we'll see i guess. agh, that sucks! you could try doing a workout on them one day in the afternoon to see how it feels.. it might feel good to move them faster after mostly just standing, even though they feel like crap before you start. hope you're able to work something out, that sucks...
