Short-Term Running Goals:

Summer:

build to up 70+ miles per week, occasional core and races, follow Jake's school's summer training plan until about August when I'll focus more on the half marathon; new goal: under 17 for 5k. 16:30 for 5k by the end of the summer

 Fall:

By next October I'm shooting to be under 1:20 for an Albany, NY half marathon.

Otherwise, just keeping up the miles so that I'm healthy, and possibly competitive, for a long time to come.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Eventually I would like to run a marathon, hopefully going under 3 hours, maybe significantly so. I'll think about that one when it's more in sight. I hope to continue improving my 5k time in the meantime.

Personal:

I'm an undergraduate at Brown University and part of the running club there. I'm told I should read Once a Runner, especially now that it's in print again... We'll see if that happens. Ok, so I read it, haha. It's awesome.

fartlek day with jake: 3x4min on, 4 min off (off being regular run pace, not slower than 8-min)

pace at half-mile for first and third (and probably second, but we didn't get to start at a half-mile marker for that one) was under 2:40; that's sub 5:20 pace for 4 min intervals XD... pro lol.. anyway, the first was hard, wasn't quite warm, but the other two were decent.

probably going to double on saturday instead of do one long run so that the Sunday race isn't totally screwed... originally the two days were reversed, but because of the timing of the public race we made the change...

just got the half-marathon plan from my HS coach; much more distance-oriented than what i'm doing now, which is probably good. poor jake will have to run the workouts by himself after this week prolly lol (as will i)

This kind of training is still good for the half marathon. And the tempo's (both 3 mile and 8 mile) are great for the half. All I would suggest doing is increasing mileage which would be easiest on your body to do as a second run some days. You are looking super and if I were you I would not worry about getting in the mileage on saturday. This is gonna be one of the last decently cool 5k's until fall. I say go all out and try to hit a good time.

When I start workouts I am going to be following a 5k-15k program because I feel like I pretty much equated my short and long distance races with the 1:18:45 so now I need more running economy at faster paces to beat that. The 80 miles per week will give me that nice flat (low positive slope) graph of short to long distance races.
