Short-Term Running Goals:

Summer:

build to up 70+ miles per week, occasional core and races, follow Jake's school's summer training plan until about August when I'll focus more on the half marathon; new goal: under 17 for 5k. 16:30 for 5k by the end of the summer

 Fall:

By next October I'm shooting to be under 1:20 for an Albany, NY half marathon.

Otherwise, just keeping up the miles so that I'm healthy, and possibly competitive, for a long time to come.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Eventually I would like to run a marathon, hopefully going under 3 hours, maybe significantly so. I'll think about that one when it's more in sight. I hope to continue improving my 5k time in the meantime.

Personal:

I'm an undergraduate at Brown University and part of the running club there. I'm told I should read Once a Runner, especially now that it's in print again... We'll see if that happens. Ok, so I read it, haha. It's awesome.

originally supposed to be a steady run. jake and i were tired so we thought about easy running so we could do a public track meet thursday. then we decided to off a mile, on a mile, hitting like 6:30, 6:20, and 6:10 for our ons. we did that for off on off (first 3 miles), ran like 6:15 in that mile and were going pretty fast on our rest, so we decided to just do the steady run, which ended up being fast. final time around 51:30 or 50:30, idk, last 5 mile times were: 6:20, 6:15, 6:13, 6:18, 6:15

SOLID workout. That is worth a 1:21 flat right there. And you didn't even think it was gonna be a workout at first. I was looking back at my log from last spring and I ran 2 5 milers at 5:53 and 5:55 average pace both on the track before running the 1:18:45. So I think that half marathon pace is about 5 seconds slower per mile than a 5 mile tempo. Your tempo was longer so I gave it some leeway in the other direction.

sickkkkkkk thanks haha.. i forgot about your epic tempo runs on the track. glad to impress, i've been worried looking over at your blog as you build up! and it feels like it's been a little bit since my last workout lol

jake and i have decided that it takes me too long to get home for us to run together every day. we're gonna run on our own for easy runs and together on workout days. this is probably good, since it'll be easier for me to do extra mileage on those days.
